All of the pictures below are video captures. They were shot on Hi8, transferred to S-VHS and captured on the Mac. The original 640 x 480 images were reduced to 480 x 360 in Photoshop, and a few got some color and contrast correction along the way.

Deirdre was born at 11:16 AM on September 27, 1995. She weighed in at 8 lbs., 15 oz., and 21 inches long. The total time of labor was roughly 8 hours, and ended in a completely natural birth. Mom and baby came home the next day.

The names of the files represented include the date of the picture. So "DCM022896-1.gif" means that the picture is the first one taken on February 28th, 1996. Some of the full-size pictures are captioned. (Click on an image to display an enlarged version.)

As of April ‘97 she was starting to talk, and definitely understood most of what we said to her. At that time she had her 18-month visit to the doctor, and she was in the 75th percentile in both height and weight. Her doctor was thrilled with her progress. Deirdre was also a real trouper when it came to the three shots she got; the crying was over within minutes.
